Only a few days to go until the official opening of the Little Company of Mary Heritage Centre on the 10th February 2010. The official handover from builders, architects, design company and all the sub-contractors took place on Wednesday 3rd February 2010. It was like a dream come true after four years of work all coming together, to see the shape of the entire life of the Little Company of Mary Sisters from the early beginnings in Hyson Green to all over the world today.
Another wonderful thing happened: a life size statue of Ven Mary Potter, which had been commissioned by the LCM Sisters in America arrived by the courtesy of FedEx. She is really beautiful with a lovely gentle smile and hands outstretched in welcome. Initially she will be in the entrance porch welcoming all who come to the centre, just as she did 132 years ago when she opened the first convent in Hyson Green and welcomed all who came there.
Preparations are well in hand for the official opening on the 10th February 2010 when the Rt. Rev. Malcolm McMahon, OP Bishop of Nottingham, in the presence of the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Sr. Jeannette Connell – Congregational Leader of the LCM, Sisters, guests and friends will bless and unveil the dedication plaque.
This is a centre you will have to visit to experience this wonderful journey of Ven. Mary Potter and the Little Company of Mary. For more information do visit our website at: www.lcmsisters.org.uk
