XIV - Jesus Is Placed In The Tomb

Even on Calvary with the dead body of Jesus in her arms Mary was sorrowful but not sad. Oh the beauty of her resignation as she helped to wrap the body of Jesus in a winding sheet, Jesus has died. His life that mortal suffering life has passed, but its merits are ours, all ours.

We are too often given to look at the sad side of Calvary and there is so much to make our hearts burn with the love that brings joy. Jesus had joy … there, God’s will was to be fulfilled, and we cannot be sad though we may be sorrowful in fulfilling God’s will. If we are in union with Jesus heart, there will come from it an echo of exultation.
